Senior Consultant Family Medicine

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive consultations and clinical assessments for patients of all ages.

• Diagnose and manage a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions within family medicine.

• Provide advanced management of chronic diseases, including diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, asthma, and other complex medical conditions.

• Develop individualised treatment plans based on patients’ medical histories, clinical findings, and diagnostic results.

• Deliver preventive healthcare services, including health screenings, vaccinations, and lifestyle counselling.

• Assess and manage patients presenting with complex or multiple medical conditions.

• Monitor treatment outcomes and provide continuity of care through appropriate follow-up and long-term management.

• Interpret laboratory investigations and other diagnostic tests relevant to primary care.

• Identify patients requiring specialist intervention and coordinate referrals to appropriate healthcare services.

• Provide counselling on nutrition, physical activity, smoking cessation, and disease prevention.

• Manage common women’s health, men’s health, geriatric, and age-related health concerns within the scope of practice.

• Support the development and implementation of clinical guidelines, protocols, and quality improvement initiatives.

• Provide clinical leadership and guidance to family medicine physicians and other healthcare professionals.

• Mentor junior doctors and contribute to clinical training and professional development.

• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, clinical audits, and healthcare quality initiatives.

• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements.

• Promote evidence-based practice, patient safety, and continuous improvement in clinical services.

• Stay up to date with advances in family medicine, preventive healthcare, and primary care management.

Qualifications

• Recognised specialist qualification in Family Medicine.

• Recognised Tier 1 specialist qualification, including ABMS, Canadian Royal College certification, UK CCT/CCST, European Board, or an equivalent recognised qualification.

• Extensive post-specialisation experience in Family Medicine, with substantial senior-level clinical and leadership experience.

• Proven expertise in managing complex medical conditions and providing comprehensive primary care.

• Demonstrated experience in clinical leadership, physician mentoring, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

• Experience working in a hospital, specialised family medicine centre, or multidisciplinary primary care setting.

• Strong clinical governance, communication, and decision-making skills.

• Eligibility for Consultant-level licensing with DHA, DOH, or MOHAP, in accordance with the applicable licensing requirements.
