We are seeking a highly experienced Consultant Sports Medicine Physician to join a leading healthcare institution in the UAE. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of sports-related conditions and injuries, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
The successful candidate will provide comprehensive sports medicine services to athletes and physically active individuals, focusing on injury prevention, non-operative management, rehabilitation, functional recovery, and safe return to sport and physical activity. The role will involve working closely with physiotherapists, rehabilitation specialists, radiologists, nutritionists, and other multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to support comprehensive patient care.
Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and management of sports-related conditions and injuries
Assess and manage acute and chronic sports-related conditions in athletes and physically active individuals
Evaluate exercise-related symptoms, injuries, and functional limitations
Manage common sports medicine conditions affecting muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, and other soft tissues
Assess and manage overuse injuries and activity-related conditions
Provide non-operative treatment and evidence-based sports medicine care
Perform appropriate sports medicine procedures and interventions within the scope of practice
Provide ultrasound-guided procedures where appropriately trained and credentialed
Develop individualized treatment, rehabilitation, and recovery plans based on clinical needs and functional goals
Assess functional capacity and provide guidance for safe return to sport, exercise, and physical activity
Coordinate rehabilitation and recovery plans with physiotherapists, rehabilitation specialists, and other healthcare professionals
Conduct pre-participation, sports fitness, and exercise assessments where required
Provide injury prevention, exercise, and lifestyle guidance to athletes and active individuals
Support performance optimization and safe participation in physical activity where appropriate
Monitor treatment outcomes, functional recovery, and return-to-activity progress
Identify conditions requiring further specialist assessment and coordinate appropriate referrals
Work closely with physiotherapists, rehabilitation specialists, radiologists, nutritionists, and other relevant healthcare professionals
Participate in multidisciplinary sports medicine and rehabilitation clinics
Provide patient education regarding injury prevention, treatment options, recovery, and long-term management
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
Participate in clinical governance, patient safety, quality improvement, and departmental development initiatives
Support teaching, training, research, and mentoring activities where required
Board certification or recognised specialist qualification in Sports Medicine.
Recognised Tier 1 specialist qualification is required, including eligible ABMS certification, Canadian Royal College certification, UK CCT/CCST, or an equivalent recognised Tier 1 qualification
Minimum 3–5 years of post-specialisation experience with significant independent experience in Sports Medicine
Extensive experience in the assessment and management of sports-related conditions and injuries
Strong experience in non-operative sports medicine and rehabilitation
Demonstrated experience in sports injury prevention, treatment, recovery, and return-to-sport planning
Experience in sports medicine procedures and interventions within the candidate's scope of practice
Experience in assessing athletes and physically active individuals across different age groups and activity levels
Eligibility for Consultant-level licensing with DOH or the relevant UAE healthcare regulatory authority
Strong expertise in Sports Medicine
