Consultant Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients requiring physical medicine and rehabilitation

• Develop individualized rehabilitation plans based on patients’ medical conditions, functional limitations, and rehabilitation goals

• Diagnose and manage a broad range of musculoskeletal and neurological conditions

• Provide rehabilitation for patients following stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and other neurological conditions

• Assess and manage chronic pain, back pain, joint disorders, and other musculoskeletal conditions

• Manage spasticity and other conditions affecting mobility and function

• Assess and manage patients with physical disabilities and functional impairments

• Provide rehabilitation following orthopedic injuries and surgical procedures

• Perform and supervise appropriate interventional rehabilitation procedures where applicable

• Monitor patients’ functional progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly

• Coordinate care with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, neurologists, orthopedic surgeons, psychologists, and other multidisciplinary specialists

• Provide patient education regarding rehabilitation, mobility, pain management, and long-term care

• Provide appropriate inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services

• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

• Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, and departmental development initiatives

• Support teaching, training, and mentoring activities where required

Qualifications

• Board certification or recognised specialist qualification in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation / Rehabilitation Medicine

• Recognised Tier 1 specialist qualification, including ABMS, Canadian Royal College certification, UK CCT/CCST, European Board, or an equivalent recognised qualification

• Minimum 3–5 years of post-specialisation experience in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

• Significant experience managing a broad range of neurological and musculoskeletal rehabilitation conditions

• Strong clinical experience in both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation

• Eligibility for Consultant-level licensing with DHA, DOH, or MOHAP
