Consultant Pediatric Surgeon

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and surgical management of pediatric conditions.

• Perform elective and emergency pediatric surgical procedures.

• Manage a broad range of neonatal, pediatric, and adolescent surgical conditions.

• Perform abdominal and gastrointestinal pediatric surgery.

• Manage congenital and developmental surgical conditions.

• Provide surgical care for pediatric hernias, appendicitis, bowel disorders, and other common surgical conditions.

• Participate in neonatal and emergency surgical care where required.

• Perform minimally invasive and laparoscopic procedures where appropriate.

• Provide pre-operative assessment and post-operative management.

• Monitor patient recovery and manage surgical complications.

• Provide appropriate counselling and education to children and their families.

• Collaborate with pediatricians, neonatologists, anesthetists, radiologists, gastroenterologists, and other multidisciplinary specialists.

• Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions.

• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.

• Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, and departmental development initiatives.

• Support teaching and training activities where required.

Qualifications

• Board certification or recognised specialist qualification in Pediatric Surgery.

• Recognised Tier 1 specialist qualification, including ABMS, Canadian Royal College certification, UK CCT/CCST, European Board, or an equivalent recognised qualification.

• Minimum 3–5 years of post-specialisation experience in Pediatric Surgery.

• Significant experience in the surgical management of neonatal, pediatric, and adolescent conditions.

• Strong experience in pediatric abdominal, gastrointestinal, and congenital surgery.

• Experience in minimally invasive pediatric surgery is preferred.

• Eligibility for Consultant-level licensing with DHA, DOH, or MOHAP.
