Consultant Pediatric Rheumatologist

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and management of pediatric rheumatologic and autoimmune conditions

• Diagnose and manage juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) and other inflammatory arthritis conditions

• Manage systemic autoimmune and connective tissue disorders, including juvenile lupus and juvenile dermatomyositis

• Diagnose and manage pediatric vasculitis and other systemic inflammatory diseases

• Assess and manage musculoskeletal pain, inflammatory joint conditions, and related disorders

• Evaluate children with unexplained fever, inflammation, fatigue, and other symptoms suggestive of rheumatologic disease

• Monitor disease activity and treatment response and adjust management plans accordingly

• Manage immunomodulatory and biologic therapies where appropriate

• Interpret relevant laboratory, immunological, and imaging investigations

• Provide education and counselling to patients and their families regarding diagnosis, treatment, and long-term disease management

• Coordinate care with pediatricians, orthopedists, physiotherapists, immunologists, and other multidisciplinary specialists

• Provide appropriate inpatient and outpatient pediatric rheumatology care

• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

• Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, and departmental development initiatives

• Support teaching, training, and mentoring activities where required

Qualifications

• Board certification or recognised specialist qualification in Pediatric Rheumatology

• Recognised Tier 1 specialist qualification, including ABMS, Canadian Royal College certification, UK CCT/CCST, European Board, or an equivalent recognised qualification

• Minimum 3–5 years of post-specialisation experience in Pediatric Rheumatology

• Significant experience in managing a broad range of pediatric rheumatologic, autoimmune, and inflammatory conditions

• Strong clinical experience in both inpatient and outpatient pediatric rheumatology

• Eligibility for Consultant-level licensing with DHA, DOH, or MOHAP
