Consultant Pediatric Pulmonologist

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and management of pediatric respiratory conditions

• Diagnose and manage asthma and other chronic respiratory diseases

• Manage recurrent wheezing, chronic cough, and respiratory infections

• Assess and manage pediatric sleep-related breathing disorders and obstructive sleep apnea

• Diagnose and manage cystic fibrosis and other chronic pulmonary conditions

• Evaluate and manage congenital and acquired respiratory disorders

• Assess children with respiratory distress and other acute pulmonary conditions

• Manage children requiring long-term oxygen therapy and other respiratory support where appropriate

• Perform and interpret pulmonary function tests and other relevant respiratory investigations

• Perform or supervise appropriate pediatric respiratory procedures, including bronchoscopy where required

• Monitor patients’ clinical progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly

• Provide education and counselling to children and their families regarding respiratory conditions, treatment, and prevention

• Coordinate care with pediatricians, intensivists, allergists, ENT specialists, thoracic surgeons, and other multidisciplinary specialists

• Provide appropriate inpatient and outpatient pediatric pulmonology care

• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

• Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, and departmental development initiatives

• Support teaching, training, and mentoring activities where required

Qualifications

• Board certification or recognised specialist qualification in Pediatric Pulmonology

• Recognised Tier 1 specialist qualification, including ABMS, Canadian Royal College certification, UK CCT/CCST, European Board, or an equivalent recognised qualification

• Minimum 3–5 years of post-specialisation experience in Pediatric Pulmonology

• Significant experience managing a broad range of pediatric respiratory and pulmonary conditions

• Strong clinical experience in both inpatient and outpatient pediatric pulmonology

• Eligibility for Consultant-level licensing with DHA, DOH, or MOHAP
