Consultant Pediatric Gastroenterologist

Responsibilities

* Assess, diagnose, and manage a wide range of pediatric gastrointestinal and nutritional conditions.

Manage children requiring total parenteral nutrition (TPN)* and provide appropriate nutritional support and monitoring.

Manage patients with gastrostomies* and provide ongoing clinical follow-up.

Perform feeding tube insertion* and manage tube-related complications where applicable.

Perform or manage conversion from percutaneous feeding access to gastro-jejunostomy* within the candidate’s scope of practice.

Perform diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopies and colonoscopies* in pediatric patients.

* Develop individualized treatment plans for children with acute and chronic gastrointestinal disorders.

* Monitor treatment outcomes and ensure appropriate follow-up.

* Provide counselling and education to parents and caregivers regarding treatment, nutrition, feeding support, and follow-up care.

* Work collaboratively with pediatric surgeons, neonatologists, dietitians, nurses, radiologists, and other multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.

* Maintain accurate clinical documentation and participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives.

Qualifications

Board certification or recognised specialist qualification in Pediatric Gastroenterology* or an equivalent recognised qualification.

Minimum 3–5 years of post-specialisation experience* in Pediatric Gastroenterology.

Strong experience managing TPN and complex pediatric nutritional support*.

Proven experience in gastrostomy management and feeding tube insertion*.

Experience with conversion to gastro-jejunostomy* is required.

Strong hands-on experience in pediatric gastroscopy and colonoscopy*.

* Experience managing complex pediatric gastrointestinal cases.

Eligibility for Consultant-level licensing with DHA, DOH, MOHAP*, or the relevant UAE health authority.
