Consultant Pediatric Craniofacial Surgeon

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, surgical planning, and management of pediatric craniofacial conditions

• Assess and manage congenital craniofacial anomalies affecting infants, children, and adolescents

• Diagnose and surgically manage craniosynostosis and associated cranial deformities

• Assess and manage cleft lip, cleft palate, and related craniofacial abnormalities where within the scope of practice

• Manage complex craniofacial asymmetry and congenital facial deformities

• Perform appropriate craniofacial reconstruction and corrective surgical procedures

• Manage acquired craniofacial defects resulting from trauma, tumors, infection, or previous surgery

• Provide surgical management for complex craniofacial skeletal and soft-tissue abnormalities

• Develop individualized surgical and long-term treatment plans based on functional, developmental, and aesthetic needs

• Participate in multidisciplinary planning for complex craniofacial cases

• Provide appropriate preoperative assessment, counselling, and postoperative management

• Monitor surgical outcomes, facial growth, development, and long-term functional progress

• Identify and manage potential surgical complications and coordinate appropriate follow-up care

• Provide clear counselling to patients and families regarding diagnosis, surgical options, expected outcomes, risks, and long-term treatment pathways

• Coordinate care with pediatric neurosurgeons, plastic surgeons, ENT surgeons, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, orthodontists, pediatric dentists, ophthalmologists, geneticists, speech therapists, and other multidisciplinary specialists

• Participate in multidisciplinary craniofacial clinics and case conferences

• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

• Participate in clinical governance, patient safety, quality improvement, and departmental development initiatives

• Support teaching, training, research, and mentoring activities where required

Qualifications

• Board certification or recognised specialist qualification in an appropriate surgical specialty with accredited subspecialty training or fellowship in Pediatric Craniofacial Surgery / Craniofacial Surgery

• Recognised Tier 1 specialist qualification is required, including eligible ABMS certification, Canadian Royal College certification, UK CCT/CCST, or an equivalent recognised Tier 1 qualification

• Minimum 3–5 years of post-specialisation experience with significant independent experience in Pediatric Craniofacial Surgery

• Extensive experience managing congenital and acquired craniofacial abnormalities in pediatric patients

• Strong surgical experience in complex craniofacial reconstruction

• Demonstrated experience managing craniosynostosis and other complex craniofacial deformities

• Strong experience working within multidisciplinary pediatric craniofacial services

• Eligibility for Consultant-level licensing with DOH or the relevant UAE healthcare regulatory authority

• Required specialty/title: Pediatric Craniofacial Surgery – Consultant

• Tier 1 qualification is mandatory
