Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and management of allergic and immunological disorders

• Provide comprehensive assessment and surgical management of patients with cleft lip and palate

• Manage congenital craniofacial anomalies and related maxillofacial conditions

• Perform primary and secondary cleft lip and palate surgical procedures

• Provide reconstructive procedures for complex cleft and craniofacial conditions

• Assess patients for appropriate surgical intervention and treatment planning

• Provide pre-operative and post-operative care

• Manage surgical complications and provide appropriate follow-up

• Coordinate care with multidisciplinary cleft and craniofacial teams

• Collaborate with orthodontists, pediatricians, speech and language therapists, ENT specialists, and other relevant specialists

• Participate in multidisciplinary assessment and treatment planning

• Provide long-term follow-up and monitor functional and aesthetic outcomes

• Counsel patients and families regarding treatment options and expected outcomes

• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

• Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, and departmental development initiatives

• Support teaching and training activities where required

Qualifications

• Board certification or recognised specialist qualification in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

• Recognised Tier 1 specialist qualification, including ABMS, Canadian Royal College certification, UK CCT/CCST, European Board, or an equivalent recognised qualification

• Minimum 3–5 years of post-specialisation experience

• Significant clinical experience in Cleft Lip & Palate Surgery

• Strong experience in the surgical management of congenital craniofacial anomalies

• Experience in reconstructive and multidisciplinary craniofacial care

• Eligibility for Consultant-level licensing with DHA, DOH, or MOHAP

• Additional fellowship, advanced training, or recognised subspecialty experience in Cleft Lip & Palate / Craniofacial Surgery is preferred
