Consultant NeuroSurgeon

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and surgically manage patients with a wide range of neurological and neurosurgical conditions.

• Perform cranial neurosurgical procedures within the candidate’s area of expertise.

• Utilize minimally invasive surgical techniques where appropriate.

• Manage complex brain and cranial conditions, including intracranial tumors, cerebrovascular disorders, traumatic brain injuries, and other conditions requiring surgical intervention.

• Demonstrate strong involvement in neuro-oncology cases, including the surgical management of brain and central nervous system tumors.

• Manage pediatric oncology cases requiring neurosurgical assessment and intervention.

• Diagnose and surgically manage patients with epilepsy and other seizure-related neurosurgical conditions.

• Manage patients requiring functional neurosurgery, including appropriate surgical assessment and intervention.

• Provide comprehensive pre-operative assessment, surgical planning, and post-operative care.

• Monitor patients’ recovery and identify and manage post-operative complications.

• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure appropriate patient follow-up.

• Work collaboratively with neurologists, neuroradiologists, oncologists, pediatric specialists, intensivists, anesthetists, rehabilitation specialists, and other multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.

• Participate in emergency and on-call neurosurgical services where applicable.

• Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives.

• Participate in teaching, training, mentoring, and professional development of junior medical staff where applicable.

Qualifications

• Board certification or recognised specialist qualification in Neurosurgery.

• Recognised Tier 1 specialist qualification, including eligible ABMS certification, Canadian Royal College certification, UK CCT/CCST, European Board certification, or equivalent recognised qualification.

• Minimum 3–5 years of post-specialisation experience in Neurosurgery.

• Mandatory experience in cranial neurosurgery.

• Proven proficiency in minimally invasive neurosurgical techniques.

• Strong clinical experience and involvement in neuro-oncology and cancer-related neurosurgical cases.

• Experience managing pediatric oncology neurosurgical cases.

• Experience in the assessment and surgical management of epilepsy.

• Experience in functional neurosurgery is required.

• Strong experience managing complex neurosurgical cases in elective and emergency settings.

• Eligibility for Consultant-level licensing with DHA, DOH, MOHAP, or the relevant UAE health authority.
