Consultant Neurosurgeon

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and surgical management of neurosurgical conditions

• Diagnose and manage a broad range of brain, spine, and peripheral nerve disorders

• Perform cranial and spinal neurosurgical procedures as appropriate

• Manage brain tumors and other intracranial lesions

• Manage cerebrovascular conditions, including intracranial aneurysms and vascular malformations

• Assess and manage traumatic brain and spinal injuries

• Manage degenerative and complex spinal disorders

• Diagnose and treat hydrocephalus and disorders requiring CSF management

• Manage intracranial pressure and other complex neurological conditions requiring surgical intervention

• Perform appropriate emergency neurosurgical procedures

• Evaluate patients and determine appropriate surgical or conservative treatment plans

• Monitor postoperative patients and manage potential complications

• Coordinate care with neurologists, neuroradiologists, oncologists, intensivists, orthopedic surgeons, and other multidisciplinary specialists

• Provide appropriate inpatient and outpatient neurosurgical care

• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

• Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, and departmental development initiatives

• Support teaching, training, and mentoring activities where required

Qualifications

• Board certification or recognised specialist qualification in Neurosurgery

• Recognised Tier 1 specialist qualification, including ABMS, Canadian Royal College certification, UK CCT/CCST, European Board, or an equivalent recognised qualification

• Minimum 3–5 years of post-specialisation experience in Neurosurgery

• Significant experience managing a broad range of complex neurosurgical conditions

• Strong clinical experience in both elective and emergency neurosurgery

• Eligibility for Consultant-level licensing with DHA, DOH, or MOHAP
