Consultant Neurosurgeon

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and manage patients with a wide range of neurosurgical conditions

• Perform complex cranial and spinal neurosurgical procedures

• Manage brain and spinal tumors, traumatic brain injuries, and degenerative spinal conditions

• Perform minimally invasive and advanced neurosurgical procedures where appropriately qualified

• Perform spinal decompression, fusion, and other advanced spinal procedures

• Provide comprehensive pre-operative and post-operative patient care

• Develop individualized surgical and treatment plans based on clinical assessment and diagnostic findings

• Manage complex neurosurgical cases and post-operative complications

• Collaborate closely with neurologists, neuroradiologists, oncologists, rehabilitation specialists, and other multidisciplinary teams

• Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and tumor boards where required

• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

• Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, and neurosurgical service development initiatives

• Support teaching, training, and departmental education activities where required
  

Qualifications

• Board certification or recognised specialist qualification in Neurosurgery

• Fellowship or advanced subspecialty training in Spine Surgery, Neuro-Oncology, Vascular Neurosurgery, or another relevant subspecialty is highly desirable

• Recognised Tier 1 specialist qualification, including ABMS, Canadian Royal College certification, UK CCT/CCST, European Board, or an equivalent recognised qualification

• Minimum 3–5 years of post-specialisation experience in Neurosurgery

• Significant experience in complex neurosurgical procedures

• Eligibility for Consultant-level licensing with DHA, DOH, or MOHAP
