Consultant Fetal Medicine

Responsibilities

• Assess and manage high-risk pregnancies and complex maternal-fetal conditions

• Perform advanced fetal and obstetric ultrasound examinations

• Conduct detailed fetal anatomical assessments and prenatal screening

• Diagnose and manage fetal abnormalities and congenital conditions

• Perform and interpret fetal Doppler studies where appropriate

• Provide counselling regarding fetal conditions, prenatal screening, and pregnancy outcomes

• Manage pregnancies complicated by fetal growth restriction, multiple pregnancy, and other high-risk conditions

• Coordinate care with obstetricians, neonatologists, geneticists, pediatric specialists, and other multidisciplinary teams

• Develop individualized management plans based on clinical and diagnostic findings

• Provide comprehensive antenatal and follow-up care for high-risk pregnancies

• Participate in multidisciplinary fetal medicine and case review meetings

• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

• Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, and departmental development initiatives

• Support teaching and training activities where required

Qualifications

• Board certification or recognised specialist qualification in Obstetrics & Gynecology

• Fellowship or advanced subspecialty training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine / Fetal Medicine

• Recognised Tier 1 specialist qualification, including ABMS, Canadian Royal College certification, UK CCT/CCST, European Board, or an equivalent recognised qualification

• Minimum 3–5 years of post-specialisation experience

• Significant experience in Fetal Medicine and high-risk obstetrics

• Strong experience in advanced fetal ultrasound and prenatal diagnosis

• Eligibility for Consultant-level licensing with DHA, DOH, or MOHAP
